Snapshot of a magnetohydrodynamic disk wind traced by water maser observations

چکیده

The formation of astrophysical objects different nature, from black holes to gaseous giant planets, involves a disk–jet system, where the disk drives mass accretion onto central compact object and jet is fast collimated ejection along rotation axis. Magnetohydrodynamic winds can provide link between ejection, which essential ensure that excess angular momentum removed proceed. However, until now, we have been lacking direct observational proof winds. Here present view velocity field wind around forming massive star. Achieving very high spatial resolution about 0.05 au, our water maser observations trace velocities individual streamlines emerging orbiting We find that, at low elevation above midplane, flow co-rotates with its launch point in disk, agreement magneto-centrifugal acceleration. Beyond co-rotation point, rises spiralling axis helical magnetic field. performed (resistive-radiative-gravito-)magnetohydrodynamic simulations star record development magneto-centrifugally launched presenting many properties observations. observation has achieved high-spatial-resolution (0.05 au) masers.

Green Bank Telescope Observations of the Water Masers of Ngc 3079: Accretion Disk Magnetic Field and Maser Scintillation

We present observations of the 22 GHz H2O megamasers in the circumnuclear disk of NGC 3079 obtained with the Green Bank Telescope. The data are analyzed for circular polarization due to the Zeeman-induced splitting of the H2O maser lines. No circular polarization is detected and we derive a 1σ upper limit of 11 mG for the toroidal magnetic field at ∼ 0.64 pc from the central black hole. This is...

Disk of the Small Magellanic Cloud as traced by Cepheids

Context. The structure and evolution of the disk of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) are traced by studying the Cepheids. Aims. We aim to estimate the orientation measurements of the disk, such as the inclination, i, and the position angle of the line of nodes (PAlon), φ, and the depth of the disk. We also derive the age of the Cepheids and hence the age distribution of the SMC Cepheids. Method...

VLBA Observations and Effelsberg Monitoring of a Flaring Water Maser in Mrk 348

We report on single-dish monitoring as well as extremely high angular resolution observations of the flaring H2O maser in the Seyfert 2 galaxy Mrk 348. The H2O line is redshifted by ∼130 km s −1 with respect to the systemic velocity, is very broad, with a FWHM of 130 km s, and has no detectable high velocity components within 1500 km s on either side of the strong line. Monitoring observations ...

Submillimeter Array Observations of 321 Ghz Water Maser Emission in Cepheus A

Using the Submillimeter Array (SMA) we have imaged for the first time the 321.226 GHz, 1029−936 ortho-H2O maser emission. This is also the first detection of this line in the Cepheus A high-mass star-forming region. The 22.235 GHz, 616 − 523 water masers were also observed with the Very Large Array 43 days following the SMA observations. Three of the nine detected submillimeter maser spots are ...

Maser Observations of Planetary Nebulae Precursors

We present OH maser observations at 1612, 1665, 1667, and 1720 MHz for 86 post-asymptotic giant branch (post-AGB) stars selected from a survey of 1612 MHz maser sources in the Galactic Plane. The observations were taken with the Parkes Telescope and the Australia Telescope Compact Array between 2002 September and 2003 August. Post-AGB stars are the precursors to planetary nebulae, the diverse m...
